Michael Owusu is an accomplished finance and accounting professional with over a decade of experience in managing financial operations within Ghana’s non-bank financial sector. He currently serves as the Head of Finance at Ramseyer Co-operative Credit Union (RCCU), where he leads the organisation’s financial strategy, budgeting, investment management, and regulatory reporting. His role encompasses oversight of statutory obligations, anti-money laundering compliance, payroll processing, and risk management. Michael is also responsible for preparing monthly reports for the Board and CEO, as well as prudential reports for the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA).

Michael began his career as an Accounts Officer at Supreme Consortium Limited, later serving in roles such as Project Officer at YAN Resources (now YAN Microfinance Limited) and National Service Personnel with the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, where he supported internal audit functions. He joined RCCU in 2011 as an Accountant and was promoted to Head of Finance in 2016 due to his exceptional performance and leadership.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a proud member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. Michael also holds an MBA and a First-Class BSc in Business Administration from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His academic research on budget and budgetary control practices among credit unions has been published and widely cited.

Michael has received several accolades, including Best Staff at RCCU (2015), and has participated in international and local training programs such as the Africa Development Educator program in Kenya, the WOCCU Conference in Singapore, and workshops on strategic thinking, AML/CFT, and financial literacy.
